Mapfre, as on many other occasions, was ahead of most insurers by including in its home insurance a repair service for white goods, such as refrigerators, washing machines and/or dryers, dishwashers, electric cookers, ovens and/or microwaves or extractor hoods.
What Does Mapfre’s Home Policy Include in This Guarantee?
- The company assumes the call-out cost.
- The cost of the first 3 hours of labour.
- The cost of materials.
- Mapfre covers a maximum of 2 interventions per insurance year.
The repair will be carried out by authorised company professionals under the home insurance policy, and they will only provide their services in the insured home described in the policy.
What Is NOT Included?
- Repairs to a damaged appliance that exceed the lower of the following amounts:
- Market value, understood as the sale value of the appliance immediately before the claim occurred.
- EUR 300.
- Mapfre only assumes the cost of the first 3 hours of labour. Therefore, the cost of additional hours will be borne by the insured party.
- Interventions on appliances that are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty according to the purchase invoice are not covered. If the warranty period is unknown, the period required from the manufacturer will apply.
- Any damage to the appliance that does not consist of a mechanical, electrical or electronic breakdown.
- Appliances more than 10 years old.
Mapfre began incorporating this guarantee into new policies in February 2012. In existing portfolio policies it was added as they renewed. Since then, due to its good acceptance, many other insurers have also included it in their home insurance.
